Colton Facciotti is back—with a vengeance! Well, I might not go to that extreme, but the Team Toyota Yamaha/BlackfootDirect.com/Fox Racing rider sure rode like he had something to prove. After sweeping Ste-Julie, Facciotti was forced to watch both motos at Gopher Dunes when it was discovered that his collarbone was, in fact, fractured from a practice crash in Quebec. But, as we all know, the kid has heart; he did what he could during the two-week break, and came out flying at Morden, sweeping both MX1 motos. He’s now third in points, 29 back of the leader, Tyler Medaglia.
RXC: Okay, Colton Facciotti, good day for you?
Colton Facciotti: Yeah, I can’t complain. I got two good starts. My starts have been awesome this year. I can’t believe it; I’ve been in the top five every moto—knock on wood! My fitness feels good and JSR’s been training me, so I feel so good and confident on the bike. And, yeah….
Judging by the way you rode out there, it didn’t look like you were holding back.
No. For the first few laps, I was checking it out. My shoulder is still not 100 percent; it’s probably 60 or 75 percent. Once I get riding, I don’t really notice it.
I don’t want to say you had it easy in that first moto, but in the second moto, Tyler put up a good fight and wasn’t going to just hand it to you.
Yeah, in the first moto I got a good start and got into the lead right away and didn’t have to feel the roost for too long—the roost here is brutal [laughs]. In the second moto, I caught up to Medaglia after halfway and I just couldn’t get around him and the roost felt so bad. Finally, I started getting fed up so I grabbed a big handful and scrubbed as hard as I could off the jump face! I was pretty happy with that.

Facciotti (2) and Dusty Klatt (111) hung tight together for much of moto one. |
In the corner after the finish line jump, Tyler nearly had you back when he tucked to the inside of you.
Yeah, I took the outside line and he tried the inside but I was a little bit ahead of him so I closed it off.
But once you solidified the lead position, really, you just took off.
I felt god out there; I felt good all day. Even at the end—my shoulder was a little tired—but my fitness is pretty good right now. I can’t complain!
What have you been up to in the last two weeks to make sure your shoulder felt as best as possible for this weekend?
I rode on Wednesday and I just rode twice for 15 minutes to see how it felt. Other than that, I was on the road bike everyday and played a little X-Box [laughs].
Are going home between Regina?
I will probably fly out to the girlfriend’s house. I might ride once but I will probably take it off and let my shoulder heal so I’m 100 percent for next weekend.
Cool. See you in Regina, Colt.
Thanks.
